A GREENOCK funnyman is gearing up to take centre stage at the world’s largest arts festival.

Renowned Scottish comedian, Parrot, otherwise known as William O’Hara, will be performing at the Edinburgh Fringe this weekend.

His latest show, ‘Help Him Jesus’, kicks off at Woodland Creatures Bar in the heart of the capital on Saturday night and is on again on Sunday.

Best known for his famous sell-out shows in Rico’s in Greenock, the entertainer, left, cannot wait for audiences to hear his new material.

Parrot said: “I’ve spent a good few months writing this show so I’m really looking forward to performing it.

“The main premise of it is sex, power, money and success and how you can live without them.

“Audiences can expect my usually funny stuff and jokes, it should be a good laugh.”

Parrot was offered a coveted place on the Fringe programme this year by fellow comedian Scott Gibson, who lives in Langbank and runs the award-winning Dead Sheep Comedy club, and says he feels very lucky to be part of it.

His run in Edinburgh comes off the back of warm-up sets during Glasgow’s Merchant City Festival.

Looking ahead, Parrot is planning a UK tour for 2017 but his first port of call will be a little closer to home.

‘Gags on the Green’ at Greenock Golf Club is a comedy night which aims to raise money for Greenock Cricket
Club on Friday September 2.

He said: “I’ll be MC’ing that night and some fantastic comedians are part of the line up.

“We have the likes of Michael Redmond, known for playing
Father Stone in the hit TV series Father Ted, John Ross and Mark Nelson, it’ll be a great night.”
