A GREENOCK vet fought to save the life of a cat knocked down in Port Glasgow – and is now trying to trace his family.

The tabby suffered serious injuries after he was hit by a vehicle and Abbey Vets boss Neil McIntosh will now have to wait a few days to see if he makes a full recovery.

The pet was rushed to his surgery by a couple who had mistakenly thought it was their own pet.

Tele columnist Neil McIntosh said: “In their understandable panic, the lovely couple thought it was their own but they soon discovered their mistake and their own cat walked in the door unharmed.

“But we would like to trace the injured cat’s owners. He is a lovely natured cat.

“He should make a full recovery but it is a few days before we will know if he has the full use of his legs.

“He seems to have come through it all okay.”

The cat was struck early on Thursday morning in Dubbs Road.
