HEALTH and safety officers have launched an investigation after the suspicious Greenock blaze incident which saw a local firefighter crushed by a collapsed wall.
Andrew Adams, 49, sustained life-changing injuries and remains in intensive care after a wall came down during firefighting operations in a disused Larkfield building.
The father-of-two’s family yesterday said that the full extent of his injuries remains uncertain.
Mr Adams was seriously injured as he and his crew tackled the fire at the former Larkfield Masonic Association social club in the early hours of last Thursday and he was rushed to hospital.
Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) is working with Police Scotland to determine the cause of the fire, currently being treated as suspicious.
Now the Health and Safety Executive has confirmed it has started a probe.
It says it is making 'initial enquiries' into the circumstances of the incident.
