IT’S ‘All Change’ for Greenock band The Beat Movement after being confirmed for a hometown gig supporting indie rockers Cast.

The Inverclyde four-piece – singer and guitarist Mark Maclean, Lyall Mooney on lead guitar, bass player Chris McEwan and drummer Marc Heron – have been announced as an extra-special warm-up act for the Liverpudlian legends’ gig in the town hall on November 24.

The Beat Movement have had a busy year so far, gigging around the country and making their first foray into Europe with a short run of shows in Italy.
But frontman Mark says supporting Cast in their home town tops the lot.

He said: “This is huge for us. Cast are one of my favourite bands so to be on the bill with them shows we are heading in the right direction.

“The fact we’re playing in Greenock is a bonus. I saw Cast in Edinburgh and

Liverpool last year and they were outstanding live.

“What a show to be part of.”

Britpop favourites Cast originally formed in 1992 and were once described by Noel Gallagher as a ‘religious experience’.

They have had a string of top 10 UK singles and albums, including their debut album ‘All Change’ and ‘Mother Nature Calls’.

The band features the original line-up – Liam ‘Skin’ Tyson, Pete Wilkinson, Keith O’Neill and John Power, who famously played Rico’s in Greenock 10 years ago.

Promoter David Hanvey said: “It is great that we had the opportunity to have a local act added to this bill.

“It will be a great experience for The Beat Movement to be part of a show like this in their hometown.

“We still have a surprise for the show and it has me very excited.”

More special guests will be announced in the Tele over the next fortnight.

Tickets, priced £20, are available online from Skiddle and Tickets Scotland or by calling 0141 204 5151.
