GREENOCK yesterday featured on BBC One hit show Homes Under the Hammer.

An attic flat in Robertson Street in the town’s west end was visited by presenter Lucy Alexander, main photo, and went to auction with a guide price of £30,000-£40,000.

It was bought by local man Gary, 26, who works for a social housing agency.

He appeared on the programme alongside mum Dorothy, who already owns properties in the area.

First time buyer Gary purchased the two-bedroom flat for £49,5000 at auction in August 2013.

He spent just under £7,000 renovating the property over the course of almost three years and as of April this year it was valued at around £75,000.

Gary said the valuation was ‘pretty good’ but added that he would ‘never sell’.

The show also featured local estate agents Slater Hogg & Howison, Kingsley Wood & Co and Thomas Bryce of Greenock-based Fixed Price.
