A LORRY driver has been charged by police after his vehicle allegedly struck a railway bridge in Greenock.
The incident happened this morning when the heavy goods vehicle was passing under the bridge at Dellingburn Street.
Nobody was injured but trains were stopped while Network Rail carried out a safety inspection.
A spokesman from Network Rail said: "The bridge was struck by a lorry at 10.10am.
"Our structural engineers inspected the bridge at 10.50am and found that there was no damage to the bridge.
"The trains were stopped between the incident and when the engineers inspected it."
ScotRail said passengers faced 'minimal delays' of up to five minutes.
