CLOCH Housing Association are investing £1m to make Greenock flats warmer.
They are upgrading 36 flats in Aberfoyle Road in conjunction with insulation and building fabric installer Everwarm.
Cloch say the refurbishment of the three blocks mainly involves insulation improvements, including rendering and re-roofing, and will enhance the overall appearance of the buildings.
Work also includes close painting and new bin storage areas, as well as improved drying greens and new external doors and ramps.
Cloch property services manager, Paul McColgan, says the work will see a significant improvement in the insulation to the buildings, and it is anticipated heating bills will come down as a result, as well as ensuring homes comply with energy efficiency targets set by the government.
He said: “It’s great we can finally start on site with this major external refurbishment.
“We appreciate these works will cause some minor inconvenience, however we are confident it will give tenants significant benefits.
“We also wish to thank the tenants who have been decanted during the works for their patience and co-operation.”
Kenny Saunders, commercial director of Everwarm, says the flats are in a relatively exposed location, and difficult to heat.
Mr Saunders added: “The energy efficiency measures we are undertaking will ensure residents will have a warm comfortable home in the years ahead.”
The work is due to be completed in May.
