CARING Greenock students put their best foot forward to help others in need this Christmas.

Students at West College Scotland’s Greenock campus teamed up with their friends at the Clydebank campus to collect 140 shoe boxes filled with goods to help those in need around the world.

Kate Kennedy, who is the health and social care lecturer at the Greenock campus, says the students, who are all on care courses, were keen to take part in the Blythswood Care Shoe Box Appeal.

She said: “This type of event ties into the ethos of our department which is ‘Care and Life Sciences’.

“I feel it encourages students to think about the basic needs of others that are not being met, and that by being involved in this appeal they will put a smile on people’s faces as they open their box and realise that others in this world do care.”

The students delivered the boxes to Blythswood Care’s warehouse and spent a morning helping to pack the shoe boxes for shipping.

Pauline Ellis, one of the Greenock students, said: “Going there and helping out really gave me a sense of achievement.

“I feel that being involved in the appeal is a very worthwhile cause.”
