A MAN was struck in the face with a weapon during a brutal attack in Greenock this morning.
The 42-year-old was set upon by another man wielding a object in Cathcart Street at 1.30am and was rushed to Inverclyde Royal.
Police are treating the incident as a serious assault.
Detective Constable Stuart Young said: "A 42-year-old male received a facial injury and was taken to hospital for treatment. He was struck in the face by a weapon in a common close or flat. We are following a positive line of inquiry."
