SUPER staff and customers at a Greenock takeaway have cooked up a cash treat for Ardgowan Hospice.

Workers at the Gate of India on Captain Street raised £800 through a ‘sizzling successful’ week-long charity event. As part of their fabulous fundraising feat, £1 from every home delivery order was donated to the hospice.

This raised £400 before bosses doubled the sum to bring the total to £800.

Ami Singh, who runs the takeaway, said he was overwhelmed by the support shown from his staff, customers and neighbouring businesses, especially Costcutter next door.

He said: “It was really good. The support we received from everyone was amazing.

“We want to thank everyone who helped.”

Ami said that Ardgowan Hospice is a cause which is very close to his family’s heart.

He added: “We lost our gran a couple of years ago and she was supported by the hospice.

“They really are fantastic.

“When you go into the centre you can see the work they do and how friendly they are.”
