CHRISTMAS has come early for an Inverclyde charity thanks to a bumper £70,000 funding boost.

Quarriers raised the cash at its annual Noel Lunch, which took place on Friday afternoon in Glasgow hosted by TV and radio presenter Fred MacAulay.

The festive fundraiser, which has been on the go for 23 years, is the social care charity’s flagship event and has helped generate over £1 million for the organisation.

All money raised at the lunch will go towards helping establish and expand Quarriers’ dementia befriending service which was launched earlier this year.

Phil Genoe, chairman of the Noel Lunch committee, is pictured with the charity’s chief executive Alice Harper and host Fred.

He said: “Once again it’s been another unforgettable afternoon and I’m overwhelmed by the generosity of our guests old and new who return every year to support the charity and kick start their festive celebrations with Quarriers.”

Next year’s Noel Lunch will take place on Friday December 1.
