GREENOCK’s very own ‘fairest of them all’ will take centre stage in a fabulous festive production tonight.

Rebecca Keane is thrilled to play the plum role in Snow White and the 7 Dwarves in the Largs Players pantomime at Barrfields Theatre.

The 20-year-old, who is studying law at Strathclyde University, can’t wait to go on stage.

She said: “People are always saying that I look like Snow White and I’ve always wanted to play her.

“It’s one of my favourite stories.”

Rebecca, who lives in Bedford Street, caught the acting bug while she was a pupil at Notre Dame then became a member of Kayos Theatre Company.

She said: “I started in school shows and I’ve always been in choirs. I just love being on stage and the feedback from the audience and everyone singing along.”

The talented all-rounder has had to juggle rehearsals with her studies and is sitting a uni exam today ahead of her big opening night.

She said: “The show is my area of fun, this is my down time.”

Rebecca got involved in the Largs production through her friend Ruairidh Forde, who has written and directed the show.

She said: “Ruairidh’s done a great job.

“We’ve been singing along to all the Christmas songs since August, so we’re ready to go.”

There will be feel-good songs to get everyone in the festive spirit including hits from Ed Sheeran and Justin Timberlake plus more classic tunes.

A 17-strong group of family and friends will be in the audience — including her proud parents Pauline and Eddie — to cheer her on during Saturday night’s show.

Also starring in the production are local performers Jacqui Templeton and Matt Carnegie.

The show starts tonight at 7.30pm and runs tomorrow at 7.30pm and twice on Saturday at 1.30pm and 6pm.
