A LEGENDARY Greenock band are preparing to release their first album – more than 30 years after they got together.

Rockers Creek Crosby and the Crewcuts, right, will be live in the Da-Rock Bar in Gourock tomorrow night as the band launch their debut four-track EP ‘Lincoln Continental’.

Unbelievably, the release is the popular band’s first since they started back in 1982 and they are set to showcase it to a local audience.

Creek Crosby features frontman Gerry ‘snake hips’ McDade and school friends ‘railroad’ Joe McShane on rhythm guitar, drummer Jim ‘Stix’ Duncan, ‘jivin’’ Jim Ward on lead guitar, and bassist ‘jumpin’’ Johnny White, who are all from Greenock and Gourock.

The EP features the download single ‘You And Your Lincoln Continental’ – an original track from the guys – alongside some classic covers.

Lead singer Gerry said: “We’re a hometown band so where better to launch the EP than the premier hometown venue for live music?”

The group have been gigging on the Glasgow circuit a lot this year with the promise of more to come in 2017.

But tomorrow night’s gig will be an extra-special way to round off a busy 12 months.

Gerry said: “We’ve always had a lot of support from our local audience so playing in Gourock is a great way to round off the year.

“We played together from school for a few years back in the early 1980s, then life and work got in the way.

“In 2012 we reformed, added a rhythm guitarist and finally got around to laying down some tracks!

“’You and Your Lincoln Continental’ is our first self-penned single, the rest of the EP is classic covers.”

The gig starts at 9pm and entry is free.

The EP will be available to buy on the night, along with other band merchandise.
