POLICE say they have made a major seizure of drugs worth almost £35,000 in Greenock.

Officers raided a house in Killearn Road on Tuesday and recovered a 'substantial amount of suspected controlled drugs'.

The haul included approximately 2.5kg of amphetamine, half a kilo of cannabis and 172g of cocaine, with an estimated street value of £34,500.

A five figure sum of cash was also seized, along with an air weapon and pellets.

A 41-year-old man has been arrested and he is due to appear at Greenock Sheriff Court this afternoon in connection with offences under Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 and The Air Weapon and Licensing Scotland Act 2015.

Detective Inspector Suzanne Chow said: "Officers from Renfrewshire and Inverclyde will continue to act on information provided to them to combat drug supply in our area and in the fight against serious and organised crime and the effects of this in our communities.

"This is the first seizure of an air weapon in Renfrewshire and Inverclyde since the new legislation came into force on December 31, 2016 prohibiting the possession of such weapons without the relevant licence. I would encourage anyone with information to call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
