THOUGHTFUL Greenock bank staff gave a good account of themselves to help families in need throughout Inverclyde.

Big-hearted employees at the Clydesdale Bank in West Blackhall Street borrowed a trolley from Farmfoods and filled it up with supplies for the Inverclyde Foodbank.

Fiona Graham, who is a manager at the branch, said the team all chipped in to help.

She said: “The majority of the food we collected came from the staff here in the branch.

“We decided that we wanted to do something to help families in need at Christmas.

“A lot of my staff live in the area so were keen to support the charity.

“We borrowed a trolley from Farmfoods and filled it up with basic food items but also some luxury items for Christmas.

“We collected enough food to help lots of families, probably into the double figures.”

Fiona and her colleagues were touched when some of their customers also decided to donate food to their collection.

She added: “We put the trolley out in the bank so the customers could see what we had done.

“A couple of the customers then came in with donations, which was very kind.”

Staff then wheeled the trolley along the street to the nearby foodbank.

Fiona added: “When we went along, the first thing we saw was a family with a child walking out with a bag and that really hit home.

“It’s sad that we have to have foodbanks.”
