FAME beckons for a multi-talented schoolboy who has hit the big time after appearing in top dance, theatre and TV shows.

Jack Burns is fresh from a starring role in Scottish Ballet’s winter show Hansel and Gretel at the Theatre Royal in Glasgow.

The 11-year-old also recently starred in ITV thriller ‘In Plain Sight’ alongside Greenock superstar Martin Compston and landed a part in hit BBC One show ‘One of Us’ plus CBBC show ‘Eve’.

Jack is also a model who has fronted campaigns for global brands and he says he loves every minute of performing, whether it’s on stage or in front of the camera.

He said: “It was fun to be in Hansel and Gretel.

“It was a bit daunting too, as I went to see the show beforehand and I thought the dancers were amazing.

“I thought to myself, ‘can I keep up with that standard?’ but in the end it was fine.

“The cast were all really nice and I also got my programme signed.”
Jack’s mum Karen says she and her husband Robert are very proud of him.

She said: “We went to see it four times.

“The show was fantastic from start to finish.”

Jack, who lives with his family on the Esplanade, attends Elite Academy of Dance in Greenock, the school’s associate Alba programme and is a Scottish Ballet junior associate.

The talented youngster, who attends St Columba’s School in Kilmacolm, is also on the advanced acting course at the UK Theatre School and has been signed to The Model Team in Glasgow.

Jack revealed how he struck up an instant rapport with screen star Martin Compston as they filmed scenes for the recent ITV drama.

He said: “Martin was so lovely and when he found out that I was from Greenock too, he found that quite funny.

“We both had a common interest in football.”

As well as TV work, Jack has enjoyed success in theatre, after landing a part in Priscilla Queen of the Desert alongside Duncan James from former boyband Blue.

Talent runs in his family, as his eight-year-old brother Rory won a role in hit time-travel series Outlander and has also worked on lucrative modelling campaigns for top brands like Dunelm and Virgin Media.

Karen added: “It’s funny, as we all went to the cinema recently and the Virgin Media advert came up on the big screen!”
