TODAY we kick off our journey down memory lane with Tele photographer George Munro.

Over the coming weeks we will be delving into our famed snapper’s archives to have a look back at some of his favourite photos from his near-25 year career at the paper.

Such was the fantastic feedback to last week’s spread, where the newsroom shared our favourite pics of the man himself, that we’ve decided to dedicate another spread to one of George’s favourite topics – the Inverclyde elements.

He said: “Where else to start but with the infamous local weather.
“It has certainly accounted for a fair few cameras and pairs of good boots over the years, so it was an obvious source of interesting images.

“I remember one time being out on a job at the West Station with a reporter and the water rose so fast that I had to put the girl on my back and wade quickly back to the car before we were washed away! It’s not always bad weather though that makes for striking photos, and picture four here of Battery Park I actually had made into a photo for a friend abroad to remind them of home.”

George added: “While it’s not always the most pleasant of jobs, there’s no doubt that the elements make great subject matter and these are some of my personal favourites.

"I was blown away by the reaction to last week’s spread, and very humbled that people seem to enjoy my photos so much. I hope everyone will enjoy continuing to look back at some of my favourite moments from my time at the Tele.”
