THE search is on to put Inverclyde’s brightest businesses under the spotlight.

Inverclyde Chamber of Commerce launched its 14th annual Bee’s Knees awards in style at the Waterfront Cinema.

Firms from a range of different sectors, shapes and sizes can make a pitch to be crowned winners in the prestigious competition.

Linda Scott, president of the chamber of commerce, said: “Our Bee’s Knees Awards recognise the wealth and diversity of talent that exists on our very own doorstep, and what better venue to showcase the initiative through film and media of last year’s highly successful event, than the Waterfront Cinema, who we thank for hosting the launch.

“We have 11 categories this year to tempt the wide range of companies operating in the area that serve local, regional, national and international markets.

"So, from budding businesses to those in full bloom, we want to ensure our judges are given another great challenge when it comes to choosing the finalists and winners. Thanks go to all our sponsor partners for supporting the Bee’s Knees this year.”

Entries will be accepted for companies of any size working in any market sector, as long as they operate within Inverclyde, have been in business for more than one year and meet the criteria outlined for the category being entered.

This year’s categories include Emerging Young Talent, Best Performing Small/Medium Business, Best Performing Large Business, Most Promising New Business and Proud To Be in Inverclyde.

Supporting the awards this year are Inverclyde Council and Riverside Inverclyde, with category sponsors Autotec Scotland Ltd, Caledonian MacBrayne, Holiday Inn Express, Texas Instruments (UK) Ltd, Union Projects, Waterfront Cinema and West College Scotland. PR sponsor is Elaine Stewart Public Relations Ltd, media sponsor Gryffe Studios and print sponsor, Love & Humphries.

The deadline for entries is Monday February 27.

A shortlist will be selected to present to the judging panels who will chose three finalists and the winner in each category. Winners will be announced at an awards ceremony and dinner in the marquee at the Chartroom, Kip Marina, on June 9.

Category winners will be awarded a crystal trophy and certificate and a DVD showcasing their business, produced by Gryffe Studios.
