GREENOCK actor Martin Compston has landed his biggest role yet – starring alongside two huge stars in a new Hollywood blockbuster movie.

The Tele understands that Martin has been busy in Prague filming WWII drama The Aftermath with twice Oscar nominated Kiera Knightley and Jason Clarke, who won acclaim for his lead roles in Everest and Terminator Genisys.

Martin is also working under the expert eye of two of film’s biggest names, with movie legend Ridley Scott producing and James Kent directing.

The Greenock actor caught the eye of Hollywood studio Fox Searchlight after moving to Los Angeles to further his career.

While he hasn’t been officially announced as part of the cast, a source told the Telegraph that Martin has landed one of the movie’s main supporting roles alongside Knightley.

The film is based on Rhidian Brook‘s 2013 bestseller and is set in post-war Germany in 1946 where a woman, Rachael (Knightley) arrives with her only remaining son in the ruins of Hamburg.

There she is reunited with her husband, a British colonel named Lewis (Peake), who is charged with rebuilding the shattered city.

Martin has recently said on his Twitter profile that he is ‘busy’ in Prague, and on Sunday posted a photo of himself leaving to fly home to LA with the message: “Been a blast Prague, lovely cast and crew. LA bound to see the wife.”

He has also posted a few cryptic messages in recent weeks saying he was ‘privileged’ to be working on a big film, as well as sharing some shots taken from around the Czech Republic capital, where The Aftermath is currently being shot.

It’s understood that Martin will fly to Hamburg in the next few weeks to conclude filming.

He recently won critical acclaim for his role as infamous serial killer Peter Manuel in TV series In Plain Sight, but still found time to do his bit for Ardgowan Hospice by bringing Hibs boss Neil Lennon and acclaimed sports journalist Graham Hunter to Greenock Town Hall for a fundraiser.
