A GREENOCK schoolboy stars in the new Trainspotting film — but is too young to watch the 18 certificate movie.

Blair MacAldowie, 10, a pupil at Lady Alice Primary, says it was a dream come true to be working beside top film director Danny Boyle on T2, which is in cinemas across the world.

But the talented youngster, who lives in Gateside Gardens, can’t watch his big on-screen moment as he’s under the film’s 18 age rating.

Blair told the Tele: “I play football in the film so I was running around lots with a lot of other kids.

“I got to meet Danny Boyle and he told me just to act normal, play football and look happy.

“He also had to make us look muddy and dirty because we were playing football.

“I’ve not seen the film yet because I’m too young but hopefully I can see it soon.”

Blair’s mum Debbie is proud of her budding actor and thinks he could be a ‘star in the making’.

She said: “He really enjoyed the experience and came home with a pair of glasses which he was given as part of his costume.

“He said he tried to hand them back to Danny Boyle but he just said Blair could keep them.

“I’ve not been able to see the film yet but I’m going to try and see if there is a way to show Blair just the part that he is in.”

Debbie, 42, explained that her son landed the role through the Vivace Theatre School in Glasgow, where he previously attended.

He’s no stranger to the spotlight as he also starred in the blockbuster time travelling series ‘Outlander’ last year.

Now he is preparing to tread the boards in the Inverclyde Musical Youth Theatre’s production of the Wizard of Oz next month.

Debbie said: “He’s the only primary school pupil to get a principal part in the show.

“He will play uncle Henry and the guard of Emerald City.”

Blair, who lives with Debbie, dad Keith and older brother Kerr, 14, is also a member of Clyde Youth Theatre and Greenock Players Youth.

Blair is not the only local person to feature in T2 — the Tele told last month how Greenock entertainer Sandra Harrison also appears in the film.
