A PAEDOPHILE from Greenock sent a sickening online text message to a woman telling her that he wanted to have a baby with her – so that he could then rape the infant.

Robert McNab or Aitman had the sordid conversation stored on a mobile phone that he also used to distribute disgusting child pornography images to other sexual deviants.

The evil 30-year-old – who was already a convicted sex offender – was caught when police swooped on him and found indecent pictures and videos on three separate devices.

McNab or Aitman has now pleaded guilty to a series of charges involving the images and the discussion of the sexual abuse of children, including his baby rape comments.

Greenock Sheriff Court heard how he used the Kik messenger mobile phone app to commit his distribution and text offences.

Prosecutor Claire Nicholls said: “The accused engaged in conversation with a user called ‘Lisa C’ during which he claims to want a baby
with the user and then to rape the baby.”

McNab or Aitman had already been convicted of a previous child pornography offence when police found the new images stored on two mobile phones and a tablet computer.

Miss Nicholls told the court: “Police witnesses with the offender management unit attended at the accused’s home unannounced.

“The accused disclosed that he had primary use of three devices – an HTC mobile phone, a Sony Xperia mobile phone and an Amazon tablet.

“All three devices were seized for the purposes of preliminary examinations.”

The court heard that a subsequent full forensic inspection of the devices yielded a total of 37 images and one video which showed abused children ranging in age ‘from baby to 14 years’. McNab or Aitman – who has been locked up on remand since first appearing in court on the matters three months ago – was living in a flat in Ann Street, Greenock, when his crimes were discovered.

He committed the offences between November 3 2007 and November 4 2016.

The court narration of what the images contain is too horrifying to publish but the Telegraph can disclose that in one of them a terrified eight-year-old girl is seen to be crying.

The video involves a girl who is said to be as young as six years of age.

McNab or Aitman pleaded guilty to taking or permitting to be taken or making indecent photographs or pseudo-photographs of children and to distributing or showing such images.

He also admitted to sending internet messages that were grossly offensive or on an indecent, obscene or menacing character, in that he discussed the sexual abuse of children including the rape of a baby.

The Kik app used by McNab or Aitman is said to have become the ‘go-to chat service for people dealing in illegal trades or sharing adult content’.

People rely on usernames instead of phone numbers to message each other, and they can delete and create usernames as frequently as they want.

McNab or Aitman also had Facebook social media and Whatsapp messaging accounts set up under an assumed name, the court was told.

Sheriff Derek Hamilton  deferred sentence until March 29 for criminal justice, psychological and offender rehabilitation reports.

Lawyer Gerry Keenan, representing McNab or Aitman, has reserved his plea in mitigation on behalf of his client until then.
