ALMOST 100 youngsters are heading along the yellow brick road in a fabulous stage show next month.

Inverclyde Youth Theatre are putting on much-loved musical Wizard of Oz at the Beacon.

A double cast of local actors aged between eight and 16 will perform in the classic fairytale.

Kieran Young, musical director and assistant producer, said: “It’s a great show for kids and for audiences.

“We has 150 people auditioning and 98 kids in the show and the dog Ollie.

“We have been rehearsing since October and children have given up their mid-term break in February to do it.

“They absolutely love it.”

Dorothy and all her larger-than-life friends will be on stage accompanied by a fabulous soundtrack including Over The Rainbow.

Linda Jackson is the choreographer and director Kieran wants to thank the team of parents acting as volunteer helpers.

The show runs from March 9 to 11 and tickets can be booked by calling 723723.
