INVERCLYDE awoke to a whiteout as snowfall from Storm Doris covered roads and pavements in the early hours.
These were the scenes in Port Glasgow town centre and upper Gourock early this morning.
Bus services were initially suspended but started returning to normal around 8am.
Schools were able to open as usual as heavy rain started to clear the snow.
A weather warning remains in force until 6pm but the forecast is for conditions to improve later.
It will remain cold, with more heavy showers expected tonight before clearing away in the early hours.
