A MAN was taken to hospital after being attacked in Greenock town centre in the early hours of this morning.
He suffered a cut to his eye and his head after being assaulted in Cathcart Square, at 12.20am.
The 43-year-old attended Inverclyde Royal for treatment but was later allowed home.
Detective Sergeant Neil Martin, of Greenock CID, said: "A 43-year-old male suffered a cut to his eye and a small laceration to the back of his head and was taken to IRH and later released.
"A 26-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a serious assault. A report will be sent to the procurator fiscal."
