IT’S egg-citing times for a Port Glasgow confectionery company as Easter products fly out the door of their factory.

The New Chocolate Company was set up by Joanne and Brian Dick, who live in the town, earlier this year at Kelburn Business Park.

Already they have been inundated with orders and two members of staff have been taken on to help cope with demand.

They have cracked the Easter market with their bespoke chocolate eggs and other quirky sweet treats in high demand from a range of customers from businesses to individuals.

Company boss Joanne told the Tele: “It’s been really busy with Easter stuff and we’ve been doing a lot of different designs.

“We sent out two hundred eggs in just one day.

“They are all hand designed and packaged.

“It’s been hectic and we’ve all been working overtime and at weekends but it’s been a lot of fun and it’s great being busy.”

The firm’s range includes goodies filled with caramel and Creme Egg-style fondant, chocolate ducks and Florentine biscuits.

Joanne said: “A lot of people want personalised, bespoke stuff, which we are very good at.

“Our staff Niamh and Louise are so creative and the designs and ideas they are coming up with are incredible.

“The amount of interest from people who want to go on courses to make chocolate and learn about it as well is amazing.

“It’s been great.”

After the Easter rush, the company is now switching attention to Father’s Day products and looking ahead to running children’s chocolate-making classes in the summer.

Another top-of-the-range chocolate machine has also been ordered to help keep up with orders.
