A ONLINE appeal has raised over £1,000 to help a devastated Greenock woman with the tragic loss of her husband and son within weeks of each other.
Sandra Patterson has had to cope with the sudden death of her husband Duncan senior, and now her 33-year-old son, also Duncan.
Friend Michelle McLellan set up the Just Giving Page and the community have rallied round in their time of need.
On her appeal page Michelle says: "Please think of Duncan senior's wife and Duncan junior's mum at this sad time, she has lost her husband and her son within weeks of each other. This money would help with the costs of everything, even a little would be great and would help the Patterson family out.
"Let them know you are thinking about them and you care."
Duncan senior passed away suddenly at his home in Mavis Road on April 4 and his family paid their final respects at his funeral at Greenock Crematorium on April 11.
On Monday, less than a week after his funeral, his son Duncan, was found dead in his flat in South Street, aged only 33.
Surviving family members include Sandra, who has two other sons, Chris and Garry and grandchildren Chloe and Kyle.
Family and friends and the wider community touched by the double tragedy have also been posting tributes and messages of condolences.
One, Liz Keogh, said: "Doing great guys, keep this fund growing to help the family at this sad time."
Pamela Wyllie wrote: "RIP Dunky. Thinking of all the family at this sad time."
Julie Brown posted: "Rest in peace Duncan. My thoughts are with you all."
Julie Blair added: "Very sad to hear this sad news. Well done Michelle for doing this."
Another post read: "Sleep tight Dunky. Our thoughts are with your family and your boy Kyle at this devastating time."
