AN INVERKIP dad struck up a conversation with TV presenter Eamonn Holmes about Greenock when he bumped into the star in London.
Stevie McAuley was walking along the Thames South Bank with his family when he spotted the This Morning presenter.
The 48-year-old dad of three, who was enjoying a break to the city with his family, said the star was very friendly and they also shared a joke about Greenock.
Stevie said: “He was lovely.
“I asked him if it was okay to get a photo and he said ‘of course’.
“He asked us what we were doing in London and also asked our names and where we were from.
“My partner Coleen said we were from Glasgow.
“I butted in and said, we’re actually from outside Greenock but we usually say Glasgow because nobody knows where Greenock is.
“But it was funny because he said he knew where Greenock was and then said that when people ask him where he’s from, he just says he’s from Ireland.
“He was lovely and we thanked him for his time.”
This is not the only star that the family met during their weekend away.
Stevie, of Swallow Brae, added: “We were down in London for a short break to see the West End production of Wicked.
“It was brilliant as the kids got to go backstage to meet Suzie Mathers, who plays Glinda in the show (pictured, inset).
“She is a relative of Coleen’s.”
Bumping into celebrities is becoming a habit for Stevie, who is dad to Brooke, 12, Evan, eight, and Lacey, five.
He made the headlines last year when he had a close encounter with James Bond star Roger Moore at the Grand Central Hotel in Glasgow.
Star-struck Stevie had been on a Christmas night out in Glasgow and was making his way to breakfast when he found himself sharing a lift with the star.
Stevie also got a selfie taken with US Late Late Show host James Corden in Camden.
