A DRUNKEN young man who was found sleeping in the middle of the road has been fined for his overindulgence.

On Thursday, fiscal depute Graham McLachlan told Alloa Sheriff Court that an ambulance was called to Abercrombie Place in Menstrie at around 1pm on September 10 last year.

The accused, Sean Mowat, was found lying on the road. When the emergency crew attempted to give assistance, the 23-year-old became uncooperative and hindered the two females' efforts.

Mowat struggled to his feet, branding the women "f**king c**ts". He called one a "silly b**ch" and threatened: "I'll f**king kill you."

The emergency workers became concerned with the accused's behaviour and attempted to transport him into the ambulance, however he lashed out by punching and kicking the windows and doors of the vehicle.

When the police arrived, Mowat resisted arrest by struggling violently with the two male constables.

Defending, Jim Savage stated that his client had no issue with the Crown's narrative of the incident.

He explained that Mowat had been out watching football with friends the day before and had continued to drink alcohol throughout the night.

Mr Savage said: "That's where his troubles began."

The accused was said to be heavily under the influence and had been sleeping on the road when the ambulance arrived.

Mowat, who was "deeply embarrassed and ashamed", offered an apology for his actions.

Sheriff David Mackie fined the accused, of Viewfield Drive in Alva, £350.
