MORTON manager Jim Duffy has given his backing to a charity challenge in aid of the club’s community work.

The Cappielow gaffer is lending his support to the 50 day 5k fundraiser being organised by the Ton trust.

Fans are being challenged to walk, run, cycle or swim at least five kilometres a day for 50 days to help raise money for the club’s charitable arm and other local causes.

Last year the challenge generated over £3,000 which was split between the trust and charities chosen by participants.

It will launch on Monday June 5 at Cappielow starting with a 5k walk around the hallowed turf.

Gordon McKillop, operations manager at Morton Community Trust, said: “The 50-day challenge is an excellent incentive to keep, or become, more active whilst raising money for local charities.

“Fundraisers select a charity of their choice and the money raised is split evenly between Morton Community and their nominated charity.

“Morton Community plan to invest donations across our four areas of activity, which are sport, health, education and employability.”

The challenge ends on Tuesday July 25 with an organised walk and celebration evening at Cappielow.
