THE A8 westbound has reopened in Port Glasgow following rush hour travel chaos this evening after an accident.
The main road was shut at Newark Roundabout just beside Ferguson's due to a 'road traffic incident' which happened around 4pm.
The accident involved a coach which hit a pedestrian, but no further information is available as yet from emergency services about the casualty, who has been taken to hospital.
The bus involved was taking cruise ship passengers back to Greenock to board Caribbean Princess at the ocean terminal.
Due to the road closure motorists heading towards Greenock were diverted up towards Bouverie Street and tailbacks rapidly built up in the area.
The road reopened at 6pm but traffic in the area remains very heavy.
