AN inspirational super slimmer has turned himself into a body-building champion within just a few months.

Harry Woodall ditched lager and crisps after ballooning to 18 and a half stone and adopted a new healthy lifestyle.

The 26-year-old, who shed six stones, subsequently became a personal trainer.

Now he has taken his transformation a step further by taking up body building.

He finished third in the UK Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation (UKBFF) Scottish Championships at the Lagoon Leisure Centre in Paisley last week.

Harry, of Arthur Street, Greenock, said: “I’d only been training for five months.

“I’m dead chuffed about it.

“It’s made me so happy.”

Harry, who runs HWOOD Personal Fitness in Dellingburn Street, had to had to ‘bulk up’ to 13 stone 5lbs for the competition.

He geared up for the event by spending three hours a day doing cardio and weight training while modifying his diet to include the right balance of protein, carbs and fat.

He said: “The atmosphere was incredible and I had a crowd of 25 family and friends cheering me on.”

Harry will now take part in the British Championships in Nottingham on October 14.

He said: “I didn’t think six months ago that I’d be on a stage for bodybuilding at this point, but if I can do it anyone can do it.

“I only decided to take part at the last minute and never thought I would have been placed.”

Harry says the journey to achieving the perfect body has been a tough one and admits he’s had to ‘sacrifice a lot of nights out and so much good food’.

But he urges anyone else who has been overweight and is looking to slim to a healthier size to follow their dreams and go for it.

He said: “I would say to them just keep going and if you put the hard work in you can achieve anything.”
