STAFF and residents at a Greenock care home proved they ‘do like to be beside the seaside’ when they threw open the doors for a fun-filled open day.

Balclutha Court was transformed into a tropical paradise to celebrate care home open day on Friday.

The beach party atmosphere spread throughout the home as everyone dressed up in their best ‘seaside attire’ to enjoy fun games.

Local folk favourites The Wherries had guests singing along while the home’s chef cooked up a storm and served up delicious fish and chips.

Deputy manager Julie Wilson said: “It was great that so many people came along to celebrate Care Home Open Day with us and the entertainment was thoroughly enjoyed by all.

“The staff and residents love a good celebration but it’s always extra special when the local community get involved too.”

Care Home Open Day is celebrated by care homes across the country and aims to encourage stronger relationships between establishments and the local community.

It also provides a chance for people to come and see what life inside a home is really like and get to know some of the fascinating people who live there.

The staff at Balclutha were keen to thank everyone who attended, including Provost Martin Brennan.
