DETECTIVES say that a Kilmacolm woman who was found dead in a Port Glasgow flat almost a month ago was murdered.
The body of Karen Young, 47, was found in a property in Kelburn Terrace on June 9 and at the time police said they didn't know what had happened to her.
Following extensive inquiries over recent weeks they have today launched a murder hunt.
A spokeswoman from Police Scotland said:"Karen Young was found in a ground floor flat in Kelburn Terrace on 9th June.
"The death was initially treated as unexplained while officers from the major investigation team conducted extensive inquires to establish the circumstances of the death.
"As a result of these inquiries the death is being treated as a murder inquiry."
