FOUR-legged friends and their owners are invited to ‘take the lead’ to raise money for Ardgowan Hospice.

Pooches from all over Inverclyde are being invited to enjoy a ‘bark in the park’ at Dog Jog — a 5k jogging event for cute canines and their owners.

Hospice staff hope to encourage as many people as possible to sign up to the event and raise money for the Nelson Street facility.

Joyce Sweeney, who is a supportive care lead at the hospice, is looking forward to going on ‘paw patrol’ with her cute canines Harley, a golden labrador and Jett, a black labrador and whippet cross.

She said: “People can get out and about with their dogs and at the same time, do something to support their local community.

“Hopefully everyone who has a dog will take part.

“Even if people don’t have a dog, I’m willing to share my dog!”

Alex Mula, fundraising co-ordinator at the hospice, is also ‘hounding’ people to take part.

He said: “There are a lot of dog walkers in the area so hopefully we’ll get a good turnout.

“It should be a fun day out.

“Participants will also get a doggy bag too.”

The ‘Dog Jog’ is on Saturday July 29 at 2pm in Bellahouston Park in Glasgow.

Each participant will also receive a doggy bag jam-packed with goodies for both runner and dog to enjoy post-race.

Anyone who would like to sign up to raise money for the raise money for hospice should contact Alex Mula on 558888.
