YOUNGSTERS are jumping through hoops as they keep active during the summer school break.

Housing association River Clyde Homes have laid on free hula hoop classes in a bid to reach out to all age groups in the community.

They were held at various venues, including Port Glasgow’s Clune Park Resource Centre.

Anne Ross, governance officer with RCH, said: “It was good fun and all the children who came along thoroughly enjoyed it.

“It’s part of our tenant participation to get families involved and do something for the children as well.

“It gives us a chance to talk to customers in different settings to get their thoughts and ideas.”

The hula hoop sessions were held in conjunction with Childsmile, the NHS education programme.

Anne said: “It was well subscribed — they loved it.”

The housing association has a few other activities in the pipeline, including a guide to ‘growing your own herbs’.

The social landlord also hopes to work with the Street League organisation to meet up with 16 to 25 year-olds and get their views.

Anne said: “We have a programme of future events to engage with customers to make sure everyone is being heard.”
