A DETERMINED charity champ has raised £750 for a cause close to her heart.
Kirsty Ferrie wanted to say thank-you to Ardgowan Hospice for caring for a loved one.
She held a charity night in the Ambassador church hall and thanks to generous friends and family members she helped raise a terrific total for the cause.
Kirsty, 28, who lives in Arran Avenue with her husband Liam, is thrilled at how much she collected for the hospice.
She said: "I'm over the moon about raising so much and it was all through our family and friends.
"We chose the hospice because they looked after my husband's relative before she passed away and the staff did such a good job.
"I understand how much they need charity donations and wanted to thank them for the good work they did for us."
Kirsty believes it is important to support the hospice for the vital services it provides to so many local families in the community.
She said: "You hope that you never need to use the hospice but if you do you would be so grateful that it is there."
During the charity event there were raffles, a bottle stall and weigh the cake competition while everyone paid an entry fee.
Kirsty wants to thank local businesses, family and friends for their generous donations.
