THE winner of the Tele’s competition for a set of state-of-the-art hearing aids told today how her husband had urged her to enter — because he was tired of her always having their television blaring.

Marjory McGuinness collected her prize from the Greenock branch of Specsavers in the Oak Mall and declared that her welcome win had taken her completely by surprise.

Delighted Marjory, 70, pictured with Specsavers clinical audiologist Thomas Allison and hear care assistant Rachel Thomason, said: “I didn’t actually think my hearing was bad but my husband encouraged me to enter the competition and always complains that I have the sound on the television turned right up.

“I have been looking forward to visiting Specsavers for my appointment to find out if they can help improve my hearing.”

Thomas Allison, clinical audiologist at Specsavers Greenock, said: “We were very pleased to welcome Marjory to the store for her hearing check.

“Modern advancements in digital hearing aid technology mean today’s hearing aids can vastly improve quality of life.

“It’s so important to have regular hearing checks from the age of 40.”

Thomas added: “I’d urge anyone who thinks they might have a hearing impairment to visit our store in the Oak Mall.”
