A FUNDRAISING event will take place for a young Glasgow man who has been put in intensive care in South America after horror bike accident.

Dylan Brown, 25, from Dennistoun, was left suffering a bleed on the brain after coming off his bicycle during a trek in Ecuador, South America.

He was found unconscious by another British tourist on the cycle route and taken for medical treatment.

Dylan suffered internal bleeding in his brain bringing on seizures and was taken for emergency surgery where doctors drilled a hole in his skull to relieve pressure.

He remains in intensive care in a hospital in the capital city, Quito.

Dylan was travelling with pal Craig O'Boyle, 23, from Ballieston, when the accident happened.

Friends of the pair set up a Just Giving page and a fundraising event will take place this week.

It will take place at Life bar in Sauchiehall Street on Friday, September 8 from 7pm and costs £10.

The pair had left for South America for six weeks of travelling and were due to arrive home on August 23.

It is understood that Dylan, who was injured in the crash two days ago, has not seen or spoken to anyone since arriving in hospital.

Dylan's family have been in contact with a representative from the British Embassy who will arrange for them to fly out.
