A MAN was viciously attacked with a pen in Greenock last night.
The serious assault happened in Dempster Street at its junction with Mount Pleasant Street just before 6.30pm last night.
Detective Sergeant Neil Martin of Greenock CID said they are treating the incident as a serious assault.
He said: "There was a disturbance/fight between two males whereby one of the males, who is aged 37, sustained a small cut to his lower eye and ear.
"It appears that possibly a pen was used as a weapon.
"He was taken to Inverclyde Royal Hospital and was released after treatment.
"We are following a positive line of enquiry."
DS Martin is appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
He added: "We believe the area was busy with vehicles and pedestrians so anyone with information is asked to phone CID on 101."
