A FOOTBALL fan paid his respects to the 1971 disaster victims at the Ibrox memorial. 

However, Rangers supporters were surprised to see that the man actually supports their rival team. 

Seen decked out in his green and white strip, the Hoops fan left a bunch of flowers wrapped in his team's colours at the base of the John Greig statue. 

The memorial outside Rangers Football Club's Ibrox Stadium commemorates the 1971 Ibrox disaster.

The crush among the crowd at the Old Firm match led to 66 deaths and more than 200 injuries.  

Rangers fan and Twitter user @bluebreeze1970s posted: "We’ve all seen this guy before dressed in his gear.  

"But I thought it was really considerate of him putting flowers down at Our Memorial." 

Other football fans were also quick to praise the actions of the Hoops supporter.
