A PENSIONER who was rushed to hospital today after being rescued from the River Clyde at Greenock Esplanade has died.

The lady, who was 81, was carried from the water just before 1pm after a member of the public had raised the alarm.

Police, paramedics, lifeboat and coastguard teams rushed to the scene.

The lady was taken to straight to Inverclyde Royal but sadly passed away.
