AN Inverclyde politician brewed up cash for a cancer charity.

Cakes and coffee were the order of the day for Ronnie Cowan MP who invited the community to his Macmillan coffee morning.

The event raised over £200 for the charity and the left-over cakes were taken to the Inverclyde Foodbank.

Jacqueline Coyle, who is the welfare rights officer for Macmillan Cancer Support in partnership with the Inverclyde Health and Social Care Partnership, said she is delighted by Ronnie’s support.

She said: “Ronnie is very supportive of Macmillan Cancer Support as a charity.

“He refers any constituents to myself who need support in terms of the financial side of things.”

The coffee morning raised £103.47 which Mr Cowan doubled so the final total was £206.94.

He would like to thank everyone who came along to support the event.
