GLASGOW could be set for a brand new 24-hour gym at the site of a former night club.

Snap Fitness has applied for planning permission to convert the Reina club at 93 Hope Street into a health and fitness centre.

The venue, which is right next to Glasgow Central Station, has been vacant since last year.

The Evening Times reported that the nightclub lost its licence after staff were allegedly caught taking drugs during a booze binge.

It was claimed that riot police had to smash down the doors of Club Reina after neighbours complained the building was shaking because of the noise.

If Snap Fitness's bid is successful, it will be an addition to other nearby gyms within a five minute walking distance of one another.

There is already Pure Gym in Hope Street, as well as Beat Theory Fitness on Bothwell Street and Sports Direct Fitness on Oswald Street.

Snap Fitness offer members no contracts, high-quality workout equipment, and 24/7 access.
