THE fire service and police were called out at 8am this morning to a Greenock town centre tenement.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the Sir Michael Place property, and had to force their way into a flat.
The smoke detector had been activated, but no-one was living in the flat.
A spokesperson said: βIt could have gone off because of a build-up of dust in the empty flat.β
