THE Met Office has issued a yellow warning of very high winds affecting Inverclyde on Monday from 8am to midnight.
Hurricane Ophelia is crossing the Atlantic Ocean and could bring wet weather and gusts of up to 70mph when it hits Britain's shores.
Some delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport are possible, and there is a slight chance power cuts may occu.
The Met Office added: "There is a slight chance of some damage to buildings, such as tiles from roofs.
"t is possible some coastal routes, sea fronts and coastal communities will be affected by spray and/or large waves, and injuries could occur from beach material being thrown on to sea fronts."
