A SPORTING sensation from Greenock is set to bowl his opponents over in Hong Kong.
Talented John Fleming has collected 30 caps between indoor and outdoor bowling at the young age of 21.
He also led Scotland to victory in the British series for the first time in six years.
His dad, John senior, said: "He is representing Scotland in the Hong Kong Classic in November in the singles and pairs competition.
"Since he joined the National Academy he's won a silver medal in Australia."
The modest student is completing his final module in an HND in electrical engineering at University of the West of Scotland and hopes to get on a degree course.
John lives in Riverside Road in Greenock and is a member of Port Glasgow Bowling Club and Inverclyde Indoor Bowling Club.
His dad said that he is looking forward to his 10-trip out to Hong Kong next month.
John, 53, said: "One of his mates has been there and told him that it was one of the best places he's ever been.
"It's only the best bowlers who play in these tournaments."
He says his aim is to qualify for the Commonwealth Games in Australia in 2018.
John said: "John is one step away from the elite squad and I'm very proud of him, he's achieved a lot.
"He is the indoor bowling's youngest ever singles champion and reached the World Finals and World Youth Games."
But level headed John is keen to pursue his education first.
His dad said: "He's very modest about his achievements. He's won under 25s Scottish titles and is the British gents singles youngest champion ever and has won under-21s national titles and three main singles titles.
"But you would never know it because he keeps all his medals in a drawer in the house!"
