THE Boundary Commission for Scotland has again changed its proposals for the new Inverclyde constituency for the UK Parliament.
Initial plans were for it to be extended to Erskine, then last year the Commission suggesting re-naming it Inverclyde & Largs.
In revised proposals released today they are returning to the plan for Inverclyde & Erskine.
It would include the current Inverclyde constituency, plus Langbank, Bishopton, Bridge of Weir, Erskine and Inchinnan, with an electorate of 77,184.
The current electorate in Inverclyde is 58,853.
An eight week public consultation will now take place.
The UK Parliament wants to reduce the number of constituencies from 650 to 600 and in Scotland this means 59 constituencies will be cut to 53.
The Commission expects new constituencies to be used in the 2020 general election.
