KIDS gathered at Wellpark Mid Kirk to enjoy some school holiday fun.

The ‘Toon Kirk’ hosted the October holiday activities and around 40 children enjoyed an afternoon of games, crafting, music and soft play.

Local councillor and church youth worker, Natasha Murphy, was ecstatic at the turnout and believes it was the efforts of volunteers that really made the day special.

She said: “There are around 15 volunteers here who are all members of the church.

“Most of them don’t have children and are older members of our community and a few of them have never been involved in working with children so it’s a new experience for them that they are really enjoying.”

Children enjoyed popcorn and hotdogs and had the opportunity to get their nails painted or receive a temporary tattoo.

Elizabeth Berry, a member of the Mid Kirk for seven years, praised organiser Natasha’s efforts and says she is a ‘breath of fresh air’ in the church.

She added: “We understand that not all parents have the finances to keep their children entertained over school holiday periods, so we hope that by offering fun and free activities we helped keep boredom at bay.”
