A £500,000 road to bring traffic into Port Glasgow Town Centre will open today.
The spur road has been built off the A8 forming a junction with Shore Street and Princes Street and has taken three months to complete.
Councillors and community campaigner have welcomed the project and say it will give the town a boost.
Councillor Michael McCormick, regeneration convener, said: “Providing better connections into the town centre was one of the high priority recommendations of the regeneration masterplan for Port Glasgow so I am delighted we are about to see this phase of the project completed before the festive period.”
A stretch of road directly in front of the town hall in Shore Street will now be closed to traffic to allow for resurfacing.
The project is being delivered on behalf of the council by urban regeneration company Riverside Inverclyde.
