AN ELDERLY woman has died after being hit by a van in Port Glasgow.
Eighty-year-old Elizabeth Alexander was crossing the road near the car park at the town's Dubbs Road shops when a blue-coloured Ford Transit reversed into her.
Police investigating the incident have renewed an appeal for witnesses to come forward with information as enquiries to establish the circumstances continue.
Sergeant Kenneth Malaney, of the Greenock Road Policing Unit, said: "This incident happened in a busy area of Port Glasgow where people would have been heading to work or to the shops.
"We would appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident and has any information that can help us with our investigation to get in touch."
Mrs Alexander, of Port Glasgow, had been taken to Inverclyde Royal Hospital following the crash, which occurred at around 8.45am on Thursday of last week, November 23.
It was confirmed by Police Scotland yesterday that she has subsequently passed away and that her relatives had been informed.
A 34-year-old man, who was driving the van, was uninjured.
A report is to be sent to the procurator fiscal.
Information can be passed to the police on the 101 number.
